End of the wire

End of the wire

That should really be ‘The Wire‘ I guess – but last night we finally got to the end of season 5 (the final season) of ‘The Wire’.

I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes their Drama’s gritty and sometimes bloody and certainly often hard to understand! The learning curve the street language of Baltimore was very steep – I remember having to go over scenes in the first episode of the first season to make sure we heard correctly, then it was a case of working out what the words meant!

It was well worth putting in the effort though – along with having to remember lots of names too – many of them being nicknames.

McNulty played by Dominic West was undoubtedly the glue that linked everything together, but his cast of colleagues and enemies were all brilliant – mostly unknowns as is the HBO style.

Sad to see it finish.

Most memorable couple of scenes for me were the famous scene between McNulty and Bunk in season 1 where the only dialogue is permutation of the F-word

Also for me the acting without saying a word when McNulty was effectively described in the FBI psychological profile about the fake hobo killings
