Making the most of the long evenings Angus (work colleague) and I headed to Glentress after an early finish from work.
Got there about 6 which we reckoned gave us 2½ hours of biking before it got too dark. So we parked in the top car park and headed uphill from there. What a great view from the top with the skies still mostly clear.
The midges seemed to think so too and tucked in to Angus at every opportunity. Heading down was fairly event-free. I stumbled over the particularly rooty section but stayed upright – felt a lot more confident than my first visit.
Angus had a bit of a spectacular crash (or splash might be more appropriate…)
Taking a short cut to the very end of a section – about 20 yards from the fire-road – he hit a root and went down to the left. That might have been the end of it except that the left was a steep bank down which he rolled and landed at the bottom with a splash in the burn. So the remainder of the cycle was a bit wet and muddy for him
We then finished off the day with a couple of runs in the free-ride area trying jumps and ramps.
Excellent fun as before – and not too many aches and pains. I drank gallons of water before going this time so felt fine after it.
