A weekend of hard labour ahead

A weekend of hard labour ahead

Friday night and with the help of Chris Lambie Pie we’ve got a weekend of laying a new patio and a half ahead.

Will attempt to keep you updated with how things go over the course of the weekend – so far so good – slabs and sand and various tools have arrived . I put the cement in the garage when I got home in the rain before it solidified into one massive block. (The bags are apparently water resistant but you never know…)

Saturday Night

Well we had thought about possibly catching up with a couple of mates for a few beers but we did not finish until 8:30 after starting at about 8am! Still – we’ve dug out and laid the back bit – 1 quarter patio.

Also dug out the 2 quarter patio near the house – and loaded the fan with all the earth we dug out – and the old slabs. Poor old van looks a bit overloaded!

Sloped the lawn in a bit to the small patio as the garden slopes a bit oddly. Meant there would have been a bit of a step down in to it otherwise.

Thanks to Lorraine for the proper working bacon and egg rolls in the morning and then lovely grub at about 9pm! And the endless cups of tea/coffee/biscuits to keep us going. I must have drunk about a gallon of water.

Sunday night

Woke up with cramp down my shins at about 1am – ouch that hurt. My legs were hurting more than anything this morning – could hardly reach my feet!

Still – we’ve done everything we needed to do – nothing left out the front other than lots of muddy footprints and a heavy wheelie bin. All that’s left to do is to fill in some gravel round the 2 quarter patio and tidy up what’s left of the sand. Giving my legs a good rub with muscle stuff to stop them seizing up tonight!

Chris has arrived home safely back in Stoke!

Couldn’t have done it without his advice/labour/van/unending enthusiasm.

Cheers dude.

Pictures forthcoming.

Thanks Lorraine for doing the jointing and everything else this weekend.
