Went our for our first decent ride on the Mountain bikes on the weekend. Uphill all the way to Balerno on the Water of Leith Path took hours – sort of deliberate one way trip. Borrowed mum’s car for the night with Lorraine’s bike in the back – I then cycled back after returning the car on the Sunday morning.
Took almost 2 hours to get out there – although I think we went the wrong way as there were an awful lot of steps. Would have taken about 30minutes to get back as I realised that I kept on the North side of the river after Colinton Dell. Doh!
Trouble was that I missed a turn off somewhere and ended up riding alongside the canal over the aquaduct in Slateford – then had to cycle up past Craiglockhart Tennis club before heading down Craiglockhart Road(?)
Bike is now caked in mud but apparently I should leave it like that to show I don’t just cycle to the shops and back on it (tip from Paul…)
