On my journey by train to head office today (3.5 hours, zzzzz) I read lots of Schild’s Ladder by Greg Egan. I’ve had the book for ages – lent by a work colleague – and haven’t had the time or opportunity for a decent read. Its very deep sci-fi with ideas that will make your brain ache rather than simply dazzle you with space travel and killer aliens. Most interesting.
And for something to do in the hotel after a nice dinner I watched The Punisher. A reasonably violent comic Marvel Comics hero flick where the lead is without any special powers other than an incredible thirst for revenge.
Personally I quite liked the 1989 version with Dolph Lundgren.
