Some sad news from the BBC that Richard Burns has passed away at the age of 34 after fighting a brain tumour for the last two years.
He’s been England’s only Rally World Champion. Who knows what he could have gone on to achieve.

This is only my tuppence worth on the subject – obviously – but I feel more for Richard Burns and family than for George Best. Yes Best was a star in his time but since then he’s been a celebrity drunk – big deal.
Burns reached the pinnacle of his career with a World Championship and was leading the defence of his crown before he was sadly diagnosed with a brain tumour after inexplicably crashing on the way to another Rally. He was in perfect health beforehand and didn’t do anything to bring on his own demise. That just plain isn’t fair.

Yes, it was a sad day. And a sad thing was when http://www.aftonbladet.se (Sweden’s most visited news site) said that Burns and Colin McRae both were among Englands best rally drivers. I politely corrected them.
Well done Per – and great to hear from you after sooooooo long – is your email working?
