Busy weekend of DIY for me – who would have thought putting up 6 shelves from IKEA would be so tricky…
Firstly they are 1100mm wide when the gap they were going into was more like 770mm. So I had to chop something off both sides due to the way the brackets work. Then they stick out past the chimney breast by about 10mm so that meant the cut edge was showing so I had to cover that up with a bit of scavenged veneer from the offcuts. Then I had to hide the lighting as best I could in the top two shelves on both sides. All in all it looks pretty good – there are a few wee gaps here and there on closer inspection but nothing huge.
Lorraine’s DIY this weekend consisted of her rustling up a Tapas masterpiece on Saturday night for us and the neighbours. Lots of dishes that were all really tasty!
Monday I took as a holiday to finish the DIY and because its end of the holiday year so days to waste!
Still playing lots of GTA San Andreas for those that are interested.
